MINDEN, NEVADA, 23 June 2000 - Bently Nevada Corporation, the leading worldwide supplier of machinery protection and management solutions, today released System 1, their most ambitious software product ever. System 1 Program Manager, Rusty Lane, explains the significance of System 1: "Condition Monitoring software has been notoriously fragmented with different applications required for vibration, oil analysis, thermography, document viewing and retrieval, performance monitoring, balancing, and other technologies. Even vibration has different software applications depending on whether the data is acquired with portable instruments, continuous monitoring systems, or polling-type surveillance systems. It all results in a very complex system for the customer who typically needs all these different technologies and data collection methods, but doesn't want a dozen independent software applications to do it." Lane continues, "System 1 represents the integration of these applications into a single suite of tools, allowing the customer to have a single user interface and integrated database. Lots of people are talking about this, but we're the first to actually do it." System 1 is a modular suite of applications based on the Microsoft Windows NT* operating system with core functions for display, database, configuration, and other common operations. Functionality is extended by means of System Extender modules which are special "plug in" software applets that provide capabilities such as Decision SupportSM automated data analysis, thermodynamic performance monitoring, machinery balancing, machinery alignment, oil analysis, and documentation retrieval. Initially, System 1 releases with support for Bently Nevada’s latest version of their Snapshot portable data collector, and their DOCUVIEW SE System Extender module. Support for other data acquisition devices beyond the Snapshot for Windows* CE data collector is planned for the very near future and will eventually encompass virtually all of Bently Nevada’s current hardware. Industry-standard interfaces exist within System 1 already for importing and exporting data to and from other process control systems, software applications, maintenance management systems, and databases. An ongoing development schedule calls for other import/export protocols and interfaces in the near future along with other System Extender modules. Bently Nevada maintains over 80 sales and service offices in the principal industrial centers of 40 countries around the globe. In addition to its System 1 software, the company offers a comprehensive scope of instrumentation, advanced bearing technology, and engineering services, as well as fundamental rotor dynamic research – all with a common objective: helping customers protect and manage all their machinery. Snapshot, System 1, and DocuView are trademarks, and Decision Support is a service mark, of Bently Nevada Corporation |
