MINDEN, NEVADA, 12 May 2000 - Bently Nevada Corporation has awarded Douglas High School graduating seniors Brodie Roman, Lysle Turnbeaugh, and Joseph Bradshaw, engineering scholarships valued at $5,000.00 each. The scholarships help defray costs associated with the students' pursuit of a four-year degree in computer science or mechanical, computer, or electrical engineering. All three students plan to attend the University of Nevada, Reno. Roman will major in computer science. Turnbeaugh and Bradshaw will major in electrical engineering.

Greg O'Neill, of Carson High School, is the recipient of Bently Nevada's scholarship for children of its employees. The $1,000.00 grant is reserved exclusively for dependents of employees of Bently Nevada Corporation. O'Neill will attend either UNR or the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, majoring in computer engineering.

Award criteria for either scholarship includes academic excellence, community involvement, and a desire to choose a career in one of the above engineering disciplines. In addition to the monetary award, the progress of each student is monitored to help ensure academic success. Scholarship students must maintain a 3.0 or better GPA and remain enrolled full-time in one of the designated engineering majors. Unlike the vast majority of other scholarships awarded to high school graduates, Bently Nevada offers a summer internship to its scholarship recipients. Placement of the students at Bently Nevada is determined by progress in school, and is of increasing complexity as the students near graduation.

Brodie is the son of Keith and Mary Roman of Minden. Lysle is the son of Jeanette and Leonard Turnbeaugh of Minden. Joseph is the son of Katherine and John Bradshaw of Gardnerville. Greg is the son of Virginia and Gerry O'Neill of Carson City.
