MINDEN, NEVADA, 25 August 2000 - The public is invited to tour Bently Nevada Corporation's new corporate headquarters on Saturday, 9 September from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Roger Harker, President and Chief Operating Officer, says the event will be "a great opportunity to share our world-class organization and our newest building with our community." Some 5,000 visitors are anticipated at the event. The new 283,000 square foot bi-level facility consolidates virtually all the Company's numerous locations, previously scattered throughout the Carson Valley. The building's design is an aesthetic blend of both modern and historic architecture, and was constructed to be highly energy efficient. Great care was given to ensure the creation of a safe and secure working environment for all employees. In the event of a disruption in utility services for any reason, the building is able to operate self-sufficiently with its own well, electric generating capacity, and auxiliary supply of propane fuel. Its construction to Zone 4 requirement plus a 25% safety margin significantly exceeds local codes for earthquakes. The building also sits 35 feet above the 500-year floodplain. Together, these provide a workplace able to withstand the natural disasters most likely in Northern Nevada. Rotating and reciprocating machinery is an indispensable part of producing food, energy, clothing, metals, plastics, and virtually every other staple of modern life. Through its research, products, and services, Bently Nevada helps ensure that the machinery used in these industries operates safely, efficiently, and reliably. As such, Bently Nevada is a major contributor to global productivity and indirectly touches the lives of people worldwide. Harker says the Company's "broad portfolio" of engineering services, rotor dynamic research, bearings, instrumentation, technical training, and software provides customers worldwide with information critical to making business decisions regarding the operation of their machinery. "In short, ours is a business of managing machinery assets," he notes. Bently Nevada Corporation has been based in Minden since Donald E. Bently relocated his small but growing Bently Scientific Company from Berkeley, California, in 1961. Today, the Company has annual sales of $200 million and is currently deploying a new multi-million dollar Enterprise Resource Planning system to further refine its business processes for the 21st century. Bently Nevada is listed among America's Top 50 privately held electronics manufacturers and maintains more than 80 sales and service offices in over 40 countries. With the recent addition of a revolutionary new pressurized bearing design to the Company's portfolio of solutions, and the acquisition of HydroScan® hydroelectric monitoring technology via the Company's Seattle, Washington, office, founder and bearing inventor Bently expects continued dramatic growth from his industry-leading company. Bently Nevada is the world's leading supplier of machinery protection and management solutions and maintains over 80 sales and service offices in the principal industrial centers of 40 countries around the globe. It provides a comprehensive scope of products encompassing instrumentation, software, advanced bearing designs, engineering services, and fundamental rotor dynamic research - all with a common objective: helping customers protect and manage all their machinery. HydroScan is a trademark of Bently Nevada Corporation. |
