MINDEN, NEVADA, 7 May 1999 - Thoren McDole of Douglas High School, and Aaron Schnaible of Carson High School, have been awarded engineering scholarships valued at $5,000.00 each. The scholarship grants help defray costs associated with the student's pursuit of a four-year degree in computer science, mechanical, computer or electrical engineering. Both McDole and Schnaible will attend the University of Nevada, Reno, majoring in electrical engineering. Award criteria include academic excellence, community involvement, and continued pursuit of one of the above-cited engineering majors. In addition to the monetary award, academic progress is monitored during the student's school years to help ensure academic success and continued scholarship support. Unlike the vast majority of other scholarships awarded to high school graduates, Bently Nevada offers a summer internship to its scholarship recipients during school breaks. Placement of the scholarship students during the summer is determined by progress in school and is of increasing complexity as the student nears his or her graduation. McDole is the son of Kerry and Susan McDole of Gardnerville, Nevada. Schnaible is the son of Richard and Virginia Schnaible of Carson City, Nevada. An award luncheon in honor of the scholarship recipients will be held at the Carson Valley Inn in July. Bently Nevada Corporation is the world's leading supplier of machinery protection and management solutions for users of rotating and reciprocating machinery.
