MINDEN, NEVADA, 9 February 2001 - Bently Nevada Corporation today introduced Bently LUBE™, an all new software product designed to provide a comprehensive management environment for lubricant test data. Dave Whitefield, Bently Nevada’s Principal Applications Engineer for the product, describes it as an easy decision for operations that want a modern tool to manage their lubrication information. "It’s becoming increasingly clear to people that they can make huge strides in machinery reliability if they are proactive in their approach to lubrication management," says Whitefield. "Now that people are seeing the importance of testing and tracking their lubricant’s condition and performance, they are doing it a lot more often. This is generating a ton of information that needs to be managed to be useful - that’s why we’ve developed Bently LUBE™."

Whitefield says there is a well-known need in the market for software like Bently LUBE™. Whitefield explains: "The key to success is ease-of-use. If you need to go through all kinds of contortions to evaluate your test data, it’s not going to get done as often as it should. The nice thing about the Bently LUBE™ package is that it’s relatively effortless to use. We’ve built it for the most recent Windows* operating systems - a major step up from most other packages that are little more than older DOS-programs at their core with cumbersome user interfaces. With Bently LUBE™, you’re going to have a product designed to take full advantage of modern computing power and the Microsoft Windows* user-interface environment."

Bently LUBE™ allows users to display and print trends of lab analysis data for the lubricant samples, plotting data against calendar intervals or equipment service hours. Tests can be displayed with multiple variables (like elemental spectrographic results) in easy-to-interpret bar-graph plots. A log scaling option enhances data visibility for multi-variable plots with large amplitude variations. Bently LUBE™ Software imports data from several commercial laboratories, and its list of supported laboratory formats is constantly being added to. Users are also able to manually input information when electronic data is not available.

"I think one of the things our customers are going to be really happy about," says Whitefield, "is how quickly they’ll be able to configure their databases with Bently LUBE™. In most instances, configuration is going to happen automatically during import of the data. They’ll also be able to use drag-and-drop to set up and print collection routes - sample point locations and special instructions will automatically print on their sampling route checklists. There’s also a configurable, multi-level descriptive hierarchy in the equipment view that allows you to organize your data and equipment in the way you want to view it. All the way around," Whitefield concluded, "this product is light years ahead of what people are used to."

Bently Nevada’s increased involvement in lubrication management is designed to complement the full line of machinery protection and management products for which they are universally recognized as the global leader.
