MINDEN, NEVADA, 6 August 2001 - Bently Nevada Corporation has been named in VARBusiness magazine's annual listing of "America's Largest 500 Solution Providers for 2001." Ranked by revenue, Bently Nevada placed 171st among North America's most successful "consultants, integrators, and service organizations." Bently Nevada shares this top 500 distinction with well-known, multi-billion-dollar organizations like IBM Global Services, EDS Corp., HP Consulting, and Compaq Global Services. Collectively, this year's top 500 companies generated over $278 billion in sales in 2000. Bently Nevada ranked 36th among privately held companies on the listing. In its 46th year of operation, Bently Nevada has traditionally been recognized as a provider of instrumentation for measuring the mechanical condition of industrial machinery, but not necessarily as a solutions provider. However, according to Sr. Vice President of Sales & Service, Steven Riggs, inclusion in the VARBusiness list proves that perception is changing. "Customers want the results our systems deliver, but not necessarily the tasks associated with putting them into service. They might want us to design, install, integrate, commission, optimize, and even operate a plant-wide system that addresses numerous production assets in their enterprise. It's all within our capabilities; today, more and more of our customers are counting on us to be a supplier of such solutions." Bently Nevada President and COO, Roger Harker, comments on the nature of these solutions: "Fundamentally, we are in the information business. The industries we serve have grown accustomed to better and faster information on the condition of their processes, but not necessarily the condition of the assets that make the process run. To turn this around, their attention is turning to what we call Plant Asset Management - an area that is right in the middle of Bently Nevada's core competence with our Asset Condition Management systems." Harker continues: "A recent industry study* showed that, in contrast to an otherwise floundering market for control and automation equipment, the demand for Plant Asset Management and Condition Monitoring solutions is growing at a compound annual rate of 17%. That bodes well for Bently Nevada as we are listed as the leading provider of such systems. It also provides excellent opportunities for us because these solutions don't come out of a box - they require extensive integration, installation, optimization, and project management expertise - and that reflects the scope of services we provide today. It means we can deploy a total solution rapidly, resulting in rapid return on investment for our customers." Bently Nevada is the world's leading supplier of machinery protection and management solutions, and maintains nearly 100 sales and service offices in the principal industrial centers of 43 countries around the globe. With 1700 worldwide employees and annual sales exceeding $200 million, the company provides a comprehensive scope of products encompassing instrumentation, software, advanced bearing designs, engineering services, oil analysis, and fundamental rotor dynamic research - all with a common objective: helping customers protect and manage all their machinery. Asset Condition Management is a trademark of Bently Nevada Corporation. *Source: May 2001 Plant Asset Management and Condition Monitoring report from ARC Advisory Group, Deadham, MA (www.arcweb.com) |
