MINDEN, NEVADA, 2 Aug 2001 - Today, Bently Nevada Corporation was formally approved by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) as an organizational member of the Accredited Standards Committee S2 on Mechanical Vibration and Shock. This status gives Bently Nevada full voting privileges in the creation of ANSI standards pertinent to its business. It also automatically gives Bently Nevada membership in the US Technical Advisory Group to ISO (International Standards Organization) Technical Committee 108, responsible for development of ISO standards related to mechanical vibration, condition monitoring, and machinery diagnostics. Previously, Bently Nevada participation at ISO meetings was limited to that of observer and had not held membership, either individually or as an organization, in ANSI. Consequently, Bently Nevada had not been allowed to influence the decisions of the US delegation at the ISO level. Richard Thomas, Bently Nevada's voting representative on the S2 committee says, "Bently Nevada's inclusion in S2 and, by extension, the ISO standards-making process is important because it allows us to use our unique experience, as it relates to the understanding of machinery management and diagnostics, to positively and directly influence international standards for everyone's benefit. It's very gratifying to be included on this committee," Thomas adds, "because it shows Bently Nevada is rightly seen as more than a mere parts vendor interested in influencing an international standard, but rather a recognized entity in the international community whose expertise in rotor dynamics and machinery understanding is acknowledged and valued." Bently Nevada enters the ISO under the auspices of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), which is the US standard organization directly involved in, and providing support for, ISO activities. The ISO is a network of national standards institutes from 140 countries which promotes the development of standardization and related activities in the world, with a view to facilitating the international exchange of goods and services, and to developing cooperation in the spheres of intellectual, scientific, technological, and economic activity. Bently Nevada Corporation is the world's leading supplier of machinery protection and management solutions, and maintains nearly 100 sales and service offices in the principal industrial centers of 43 countries around the globe. It provides a comprehensive scope of products encompassing vibration monitoring instrumentation, software, advanced bearing designs, engineering services, lubrication condition monitoring, and fundamental rotor dynamic research - all with a common objective: helping customers protect and manage their machinery and other plant production assets. |
